Hey all
Now, before I get people "banging their head" in frustration at me- here's my question.
I love to get my first pedi/mani of the season..and since its going to be almost 90 on Sat/sunday I was thinking of doing this. I've never been concerned before about going into the shops that are "cheaper" but I was just thinking about how they all wear the face masks from the fumes. Is anyone else thinking of getting a pedi/mani? I think I'm going to buck up and go to a place that's not as cheap-as its usually cleaner and they don't necessarily use all the cheap stuff-nailpolish/remover/ and all the acrylics. Just trying to get a vibe from what people are doing. I might not be able to see my feet in a few months, but the people who will have to put my shoes on will! hahaa

I went to a cheaper place and the opened the door for me, seated me near the door, and gave a a mask to wear. Then again I always go there, so they know me.

Feb 2010: Start TTC again, the old fashioned way
Mar - June 2011: Clomid 100mg
July 2011: Unmedicated cycle = BFP! on August 29th, 2011
Nov 6th 2011: m/c due to subchorionic hematoma
Dec 2011: Start TTC again, unmedicated
February 12th, 2012: BFP! EDD 10/23/12
Mar 12th 2012: diagnosed as blighted ovum

I went to a cheaper place last summer and I ended up getting athletes foot. Never again! When the person next to me was done she just drained the water and wiped it out. I usually (and now always) go to the upscale places and when someone is done they drain the water, fill it back up, add sanitizer and run the jets.
I guess I would say go with caution but I would recommend a more upscale place.

I was really worried about this too, as getting pedicures are my vice (even in the winter!) The place I go to isn't that cheap, and I went last week. I was more worried about them rubbing the place that can induce labor, but this early on, I'm not too worried. I had a friend go who was 8 1/2 mo pg and her baby is fine! I wouldn't worry about it and would sit by the door like nicholebuchalla says. Good luck! Have fun getting them done!

I think it's worth it to pay a little more and go to a nice place. They tend to pamper you more and are safer in many respects.

I personally never go to the "cheap" places as I have found they are not as clean as the ones that cost a little more. To me, I would rather go to a place that cost a little more, because that usually means they care more and that they take more time to clean their products. I don't want to get any type of infection pregnant or not.?

Thanks ladies! I found a place where I usually get massages. I just need to talk dh into letting me have a girl day (just kidding-I'm unemployed, and although he doesn't mind me doing whatever moneywise, I still ask cuz he's makin the bacon! !!)

My nail lady works out of a salon, and she does hour pedicures for $20. I love her.
